A Minnesota man with a history of violent offenses is behind bars once again, this time facing a federal charge for possessing a firearm.
Anthony Dale Randklev, 39, of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, has been indicted on a single count of felon in possession of a firearm, according to a press release from the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Minnesota.
The indictment alleges that on or about July 22, 2018, Randklev possessed a Remington model 870 12-gauge shotgun, which is prohibited for someone with his history of violent offenses, including assault, drug, and kidnapping convictions.
If convicted, Randklev faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison.
In addition to the federal charge, Randklev is also facing multiple state charges in Otter Tail County District Court, including three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of kidnapping, one count of first-degree burglary, one count of false imprisonment, one count of felon in possession of a firearm, and one count of fleeing a police officer.
He is currently being held in the Otter Tail County Jail.
The investigation into Randklev’s activities was conducted by the ATF, the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and the Otter Tail County Attorney’s Office as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, an initiative aimed at combating violent crime.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph H. Thompson is prosecuting the case.
