PITTSBURGH, PA – A resident of Donora, Pennsylvania, has been charged with violating federal narcotics laws, according to Acting United States Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman.
Anthony Law, age 36, of Donora, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on a charge of violating federal narcotics laws. The one-count Indictment names Law as the sole defendant.
According to the Indictment, on or about September 21, 2020, Law possessed with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.
The law provides for a maximum total sentence of not more than 40 years in prison, a fine of $5,000,000 or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
The Pennsylvania State Police conducted the investigation leading to the Indictment in this case. Assistant United States Attorney Katherine C. Jordan is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
It is essential to note that an indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
This case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat narcotics-related crimes in Pennsylvania. The community should remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
