Fort Wayne Man Pleads Guilty to Crack Cocaine Conspiracy
Fort Wayne, Indiana – Antonio Sewell, 31, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine. The charges were filed as a result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation/G-NET, the Indiana State Police, the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Police Department, the Allen County Drug Task Force and the New Haven Police Department.
The plea was made before Magistrate Judge Roger Cosbey, who is recommending that the district court accept the tendered guilty plea. The parties have 10 days in which to object to the magistrate judge’s recommendation. If convicted in court, any specific sentence to be imposed will be determined by the judge after a consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
Assistant United States Attorneys Anthony Geller and Lesley Miller Lowery are prosecuting the case. The investigation and prosecution of this case involved numerous law enforcement agencies working together to combat the scourge of crack cocaine in Fort Wayne.
As the investigation continues, the public is reminded that the sale and distribution of crack cocaine is a serious crime with severe consequences. The U.S. Attorney’s Office is committed to working with law enforcement agencies to bring those responsible to justice.
The case is being prosecuted under the federal sentencing guidelines, which provide for a range of penalties based on the severity of the crime and the defendant’s prior record. If convicted, Sewell faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $1 million.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office would like to thank the Federal Bureau of Investigation/G-NET, the Indiana State Police, the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Police Department, the Allen County Drug Task Force and the New Haven Police Department for their tireless efforts in investigating and prosecuting this case.
