Clewiston Man Sentenced to 12 Years for Meth and Firearm Offenses
FORT MYERS, FLORIDA — In a recent federal court decision, 45-year-old Antowan Jabaar Cain of Clewiston was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for his involvement in a methamphetamine trafficking operation in Hendry County.
According to court documents, on December 12, 2024, Cain sold a firearm and methamphetamine in Hendry County. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives conducted the investigation, and Assistant United States Attorney Mark Morgan prosecuted the case.
Cain pleaded guilty to the charges on February 26, 2025. As part of his sentence, Cain is also required to forfeit the firearm used during the offense.
U.S. District Judge Sheri Polster Chappell handed down the 12-year sentence in federal court. Cain’s guilty plea and subsequent sentence are the result of a thorough investigation and prosecution under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in communities.
Project Safe Neighborhoods, launched by the federal government in 2001, brings together law enforcement agencies and community organizations to prevent and combat violent crime. The program focuses on fostering trust and legitimacy within communities, supporting organizations that prevent violence, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring the results.
Cain’s case is a prime example of the effectiveness of Project Safe Neighborhoods in combating crime and making communities safer. The program’s commitment to community involvement and targeted enforcement has led to a decrease in violent crime and gun violence in many areas.
In a statement, Assistant United States Attorney Mark Morgan praised the efforts of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and other law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation. ‘This case is a success story for Project Safe Neighborhoods and a testament to the dedication of our law enforcement partners in keeping our communities safe,’ Morgan said.
