Tampa, FL – A Pasco County man has been handed a nine-year prison sentence for his role in distributing methamphetamine. Carlos Solorio, 25, of Dade City, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Steven D. Merryday for his crimes.
According to court documents, Solorio sold 3 kilograms of methamphetamine to another individual at a grocery store parking lot in Dade City, Florida on May 31, 2023. This narcotics transaction was orchestrated by brokers in Mexico and Atlanta, Georgia.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Homeland Security Investigations, the Pasco Sheriff’s Office, and the Tampa Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney David J. Pardo led the prosecution.
This case was part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigation. OCDETF identifies, disrupts, and dismantles the highest-level criminal organizations that threaten the United States using a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach.
Solorio pled guilty on November 7, 2024, to his crimes. His guilty plea marked the culmination of a lengthy investigation that exposed a complex web of narcotics trafficking.
The nine-year sentence handed down to Solorio serves as a stark reminder of the severity of methamphetamine trafficking. As law enforcement agencies continue to work tirelessly to dismantle these operations, it is clear that the consequences for those involved will be severe.
This case highlights the importance of collaboration between local, state, and federal agencies in combating organized crime. By working together, these agencies can identify and disrupt the highest-level threats to public safety.
