Taylor Lovely, Methamphetamine Conspiracy, Maine 2020

BANGOR, Maine – In a hard-hitting move to combat the opioid crisis, the U.S. government has successfully taken down a major methamphetamine ring in Maine.

Defendant: Taylor Lovely, 34, of Aroostook County, Maine

Criminal Charges: Conspiring to distribute and possessing with intent to distribute methamphetamine

Sentence: U.S. District Judge Lance E. Walker sentenced Taylor Lovely to 158 months in prison and five years of supervised release.

According to court records, the methamphetamine trafficking organization distributed large quantities of methamphetamine in northern Maine between approximately January 2017 and August 2018. The organization obtained the drugs from out-of-state sources in Colorado and Arizona.

Taylor Lovely and his co-conspirators distributed the drugs in northern Maine.

Additionally, court records show that between approximately July 2018 and May 2019, members of a separate conspiracy obtained methamphetamine in western and southern states from sources in Mexico. Lovely and his co-conspirators distributed the drugs in Aroostook County and other parts of central and northern Maine.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration; Homeland Security Investigations; the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco and Explosives; and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency investigated these cases with the assistance of multiple state and local law enforcement agencies.

These prosecutions are part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) investigation, which aims to identify, disrupt, and dismantle the highest-level drug traffickers, money launderers, gangs, and transnational criminal organizations that threaten the United States.
