McAlester Man Faces Life in Prison for Methamphetamine Conspiracy

A 32-year-old McAlester man has admitted to his role in a large-scale methamphetamine conspiracy that could land him in federal prison for life. Charles P. Hendricks, 32, pleaded guilty to drug conspiracy in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee.

According to court documents, Hendricks was involved in a scheme to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine, a Schedule II Controlled Substance. The charges date back to April 2017 and continued until June 26, 2019.

The investigation into Hendricks’ activities was a collaborative effort between the Tahlequah Police Department, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Hendricks’ guilty plea was accepted by the Honorable Steven P. Shreder, U.S. Magistrate Judge, who also ordered a presentence investigation report to be completed. Assistant United States Attorney Shannon Henson represented the United States in the case.

Under federal law, Hendricks faces a minimum of 10 years and up to life in prison, as well as a fine of up to $10,000,000.00. Sentencing is scheduled for a later date.

The guilty plea marks a significant development in the ongoing fight against methamphetamine trafficking in eastern Oklahoma. Law enforcement officials credit the collaborative effort between agencies for bringing the case to a successful conclusion.
