Armando Silva Reyes, Meth Distribution, Iowa 2022

A Spencer man, Armando Silva Reyes, 55, has been caught in a web of methamphetamine distribution in Northern Iowa. According to a recent plea hearing, Reyes admitted to conspiring with others to distribute pound-levels of methamphetamine in the region.

Between January 2020 and February 2021, Reyes and his cohorts were involved in a conspiracy to distribute large quantities of methamphetamine. On at least two separate occasions, Reyes distributed more than a quarter pound of pure methamphetamine to individuals cooperating with law enforcement. The evidence also revealed that on February 3, 2021, Reyes and others received approximately 3 pounds of methamphetamine via the United States Postal Service at the Spencer Post Office.

The charges against Reyes include one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and two counts of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Each count carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment, along with a $10,000,000 fine and at least five years of supervised release following any imprisonment.

Reyes remains in the custody of the United States Marshal pending sentencing. A presentence report will be prepared before the sentencing hearing, which will be set by United States District Court Chief Judge Leonard T. Strand.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Patrick T. Greenwood and was investigated by the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and Iowa DCI Laboratory.
