⏱ 2 min read

Laurens Jean-Francois, a 23-year-old Haitian national, has been convicted of committing two brazen armed robberies in Indianapolis over a three-day period in July 2025. On July 19, Jean-Francois robbed a Domino’s Pizza delivery driver at the Scarborough Lake Apartments, using a .556 caliber AR-15 pistol to demand the driver’s wallet, cell phone, and food order. Three days later, he struck again, this time targeting the Xpress Pantry on North High School Road, where he brandished the same pistol and demanded cash from the register.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) arrested Jean-Francois on July 29, 2025, during a traffic stop, where officers found the AR-15 pistol in plain view. Further investigation revealed that Jean-Francois was unlawfully present in the United States, with an expired green card.

The FBI Indianapolis Field Office and the IMPD investigated the case, which was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Matt Barloh and Michelle P. Brady. U.S. District Judge Richard L. Young presided over the trial and will sentence Jean-Francois at a later date.

The conviction marks a significant victory for law enforcement in Indianapolis, which has seen a surge in violent crime in recent years. The case highlights the importance of collaboration between federal and local agencies in combating violent crime and ensuring public safety.
