Orlando, Florida – In a shocking turn of events, three members of a notorious robbery crew have been sentenced to lengthy prison sentences for their roles in an armed robbery conspiracy. The suspects, Jimmy Anthony Montgomery, Jr. and Brandon Terrance Blanks, were found guilty of conspiring to commit an armed drug robbery and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense.
According to court documents, the suspects, who were joined by Dexter Eugene Mims and Genesis Mark Chappelle, met with an undercover agent on multiple occasions to plan the heist. On the morning prior to executing the robbery, agents discovered two assault-style rifles and two handguns, which the individuals had planned to use in the crime.
Montgomery, 25, of Deland, was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for his role in the conspiracy. Blanks, also 25, of Deland, received a 11-year sentence for the same charges. Both suspects pleaded guilty to the charges on March 25 and 26, 2013, respectively.
Chappelle was sentenced to 17 years in prison for his role in the crime, while Mims received a 10-year sentence. The sentences were handed down by U.S. District Judge Gregory A. Presnell.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant United States Attorney Vincent S. Chiu prosecuted the case, bringing the suspects to justice for their crimes.
The sentence is a stark reminder of the consequences of engaging in armed robbery and drug trafficking. The suspects will now face the harsh reality of life behind bars, a fate that they undoubtedly deserve.
