Arthur Varcea Colvin, Drug Trafficking, Alabama 2025

Montgomery Man Sentenced to 8 Years in Prison Following Federal Drug and Gun Convictions

In a harsh blow to those who would seek to peddle their wares on our streets, 23-year-old Arthur Varcea Colvin of Montgomery, Alabama, was sentenced to 96 months in prison for his role in a marijuana and gun trafficking operation. This sentence, handed down on March 4, 2025, marks a significant victory in the ongoing battle against those who would seek to profit from the sale of illicit substances.

According to court records, on February 1, 2023, officers with the Montgomery Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in which Colvin was a passenger. A search of the vehicle revealed three firearms, including a .40 caliber handgun, an AR-15 pistol, and a 9mm handgun, as well as over 400 grams of marijuana in the trunk. Additionally, officers found a handgun and a small amount of marijuana on Colvin’s person.

Colvin’s guilty plea to possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime was entered on October 28, 2024. His co-defendant, Le’Anthony Washington, a 28-year-old man with a previous felony conviction, was also sentenced to 35 months in federal prison for his role in the operation. Washington pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm in October of last year and was sentenced on January 31, 2025.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and Montgomery Police Department investigated this case, with Assistant United States Attorney Michelle R. Turner prosecuting the case.

Colvin’s sentence of 96 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, serves as a stern reminder of the consequences of engaging in drug trafficking and firearms offenses. There is no parole in the federal system, and those who would seek to profit from these illicit activities would do well to take heed of Colvin’s fate.
