Austin David Stafford, Production of Child Pornography, Kentucky 2023

A 31-year-old Versailles man has been sentenced to 540 months in prison for his role in the production and distribution of child pornography.

Austin David Stafford was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Danny C. Reeves on Friday after pleading guilty to two separate court cases.

According to his plea agreement, Stafford and his co-defendant, Crystal Campbell, used a minor victim to engage in sexually explicit conduct on two occasions, once at their trailer and once in an outdoor setting.

Stafford also used a fake persona on social media to lure a minor victim into an online romance, obtaining intimate details and visual depictions of the victim.

He then created additional fake personas and used the information he had learned about the victim to extort and manipulate the minor victim, coercing them to engage in sexual acts with him and another co-defendant, James Campbell.

Stafford’s sentence includes 85% of his prison time being served, and upon his release, he will be under the supervision of the U.S. Probation Office for 30 years.

The investigation and prosecution of Stafford’s case was conducted by the FBI and the Kentucky State Police, with significant assistance from the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office.

The case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Austin David Stafford’s co-defendant, Crystal Campbell, is scheduled to be sentenced on April 21, 2025.
