Bangor Man Sentenced for Marijuana Conspiracy
Bangor, Maine – Nicholas Reynolds, 34, of Bangor, has been sentenced to six months in prison and three years of supervised release, with six months of home confinement, for his role in a marijuana conspiracy.
According to court records, Reynolds conspired with others to illegally manufacture and distribute marijuana between October 2010 and August 2016. The large, sophisticated indoor growing facility in Frankfort, Maine, where the marijuana was grown, was not registered as a medical marijuana grow with the Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), and the location was not reported to DHHS.
In May 2016, law enforcement officers executed a federal search warrant at the facility and recovered approximately 400 marijuana plants, 295 marijuana root balls, and paraphernalia used to manufacture and process marijuana. The search warrant affidavit revealed that Reynolds and his co-conspirators were not registered as medical marijuana caregivers with the DHHS, and the location of the facility was not reported to DHHS.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. U.S. Attorney Halsey B. Frank announced the sentence in U.S. District Court by Judge Jon D. Levy.
Reynolds’ actions demonstrate the consequences of engaging in large-scale marijuana distribution. His six-month prison sentence serves as a reminder that those who break the law will face severe repercussions.
The investigation and subsequent sentencing of Reynolds are a testament to the dedication and hard work of law enforcement agencies. We will continue to work tirelessly to combat drug trafficking and bring those responsible to justice.
