Local Man’s Dark Secret Exposed: 15 Years for Commercial Sex Trafficking
Belle Fourche, SD – In a shocking revelation, Jerry Lane Golliher, a 32-year-old man from Belle Fourche, South Dakota, has been sentenced to 15 years in custody for his involvement in commercial sex trafficking.
The conviction stems from an undercover operation conducted during the 2013 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, where Golliher responded to a Craigslist.com advertisement posted by Division of Criminal Investigation undercover agents. He believed the advertisement offered young girls for sex, and after several emails with an undercover agent, he proceeded to negotiate the time and place they would meet, as well as the price he would pay, which was $150.
Golliher showed up at the negotiated time and place with sufficient currency and confirmed he was there to have sex with a minor in exchange for money. The undercover operation and arrests were a joint effort between the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Rapid City Police Department, and the Pennington County Sheriff’s office.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Sarah Collins and Ben Patterson prosecuted the case, which resulted in Golliher’s conviction. He was one of nine men who were arrested and federally indicted for Commercial Sex Trafficking.
Golliher was sentenced to 15 years in custody, 5 years of supervised release, and ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. He was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshal’s Service.
This case serves as a reminder of the devastating effects of human trafficking and the importance of holding perpetrators accountable for their crimes. The community is encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
The case is a testament to the dedication and hard work of law enforcement agencies and prosecutors who work tirelessly to bring these crimes to justice.
