Spearfish, SD – A chilling charge sheet has been filed against 68-year-old Stanley Patrick Weber of Spearfish, South Dakota. The federal government is charging him with a litany of sex crimes that span more than a decade.
Weber, who was employed as a physician at Pine Ridge Indian Health Services, faces serious allegations including Aggravated Sexual Abuse, Sexual Abuse, and Sexual Abuse of a Minor. He was indicted by a federal grand jury on February 22, 2017, and bravely faced the charges before U.S. Magistrate Judge Daneta Wollmann on March 1, 2017.
The defendant has pleaded not guilty to all counts against him, and as per his constitutional rights, he is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The severity of the penalties looms large: upon conviction, Weber could be sentenced to life imprisonment, fined $250,000, and subjected to a minimum of 5 years up to lifetime supervised release.
According to the charges, Weber’s offenses took place between 1999 and 2011, during his time at Pine Ridge. The alleged victims are minors, and the nature of these crimes is nothing short of heinous. The case is being handled with the utmost seriousness by the Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General, Bureau of Indian Affairs Office of Justice Services, Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, Rapid City Police Department, and Spearfish Police Department.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah Collins is leading the prosecution. Weber was released pending trial, and a court date has been set for May 9, 2017. The community is on edge as they await justice in this harrowing case.
