Binghamton Man Sentenced for Fentanyl, Meth, and Gun Crimes
A Binghamton man has been sentenced to 97 months in federal prison for his role in a deadly fentanyl and methamphetamine operation. Dupray Jordan, 34, of Binghamton, was handed down the sentence after pleading guilty to possessing fentanyl and methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, and possessing a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon.
According to court documents, Jordan was found to be in possession of a loaded .38 caliber revolver in a Binghamton apartment on November 12, 2021. The gun was thrown to the ground as police entered to execute a search warrant at the apartment. Jordan was at the time a convicted felon, having previously been convicted in New York state court of Assault in the Second Degree.
The investigation into Jordan’s operation was a joint effort between the Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force, the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the United States Postal Inspection Service. The Broome County Metro SWAT Team assisted in the execution of the search warrant.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard Southwick prosecuted the case as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence. PSN brings together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to make neighborhoods safer for everyone.
Jordan was also sentenced to serve a post-incarceration term of supervised release of 3 years following his release from federal prison. The sentence marks a significant blow to the deadly fentanyl and methamphetamine trade in Binghamton and surrounding areas.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York has made it clear that they will continue to prioritize cases like Jordan’s, where individuals are using firearms to further their illicit activities. The office has committed to working closely with law enforcement partners to identify and prosecute those responsible for gun violence and drug trafficking.
As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information about the fentanyl and methamphetamine trade in Binghamton to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously to the Broome County Crime Stoppers at [insert contact information].
