Blood Hound Brims Leader Gets 25 Years in Prison
Brandon Green, also known as ‘Light,’ was sentenced to approximately 24.5 years in prison for his leadership of the Blood Hound Brims, a violent street and prison gang, and his participation in narcotics trafficking and firearms offenses.
A federal jury convicted Green in 2019 of racketeering, narcotics, and firearms offenses. His sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Paul G. Gardephe.
U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss said, ‘Brandon Green, one of the leaders of a ruthlessly violent gang, was responsible for extensive narcotics trafficking throughout the city and state of New York. Today’s lengthy sentence sends an important message to the Blood Hound Brims and other gang members that they will be arrested, prosecuted and face justice for their crimes.’
The Blood Hound Brims were a faction of the Bloods street gang, operating in the greater New York area from 2005 to 2016. The gang had a hierarchical structure, with a founder and leader, Latique Johnson, known as the ‘Godfather.’
Members of the BHB had regular meetings, where they discussed business, including rivalries with other gangs, shootings, and the sale of narcotics. They also collected ‘kitty dues’ to pay for commissary funds, lawyers, guns, and drugs, and to serve as tribute to Johnson.
Green, 38, of the Bronx, was one of the BHB’s primary suppliers of cocaine, and his conviction was the result of an investigation that uncovered the gang’s involvement in narcotics trafficking and firearms offenses.
The case against Green was part of a larger effort to dismantle the Blood Hound Brims and hold its members accountable for their crimes. The sentence sends a strong message to the gang and its members that they will face justice for their actions.
Green’s sentence is a significant blow to the Blood Hound Brims, and it highlights the importance of continued efforts to combat gang violence and narcotics trafficking in the city and state of New York.
