BOSTON – In a stunning reversal of fortune, Meliek Bennett, 29, a known Bloods street gang member from Lynn, Massachusetts, and his brother Maurice, 38, pleaded guilty to orchestrating the distribution of cocaine, counterfeit pills, and other controlled substances across the North Shore. The gritty tale of drug dealing, violence, and betrayal has sent shockwaves through local communities.
Maurice, identified as a Bloods member with prior convictions for firearms and violent crimes, was nabbed alongside his brother in May 2025. According to court documents, their conspiracy spanned across state lines, with numerous intercepted text messages detailing their drug operations and deals. The brothers discussed sharing customers, drug supplies, settling debts, and even plotting a trip to New Hampshire to sell more controlled substances.
It was September 2024 when law enforcement got ahold of a chilling conversation involving Meliek, who spoke of planning to murder a drug supplier with a silenced pistol after being beaten. The plot thickened as a search warrant turned up fentanyl tablets, oxycodone, gabapentin, marijuana, and a loaded .22 caliber pistol in Meliek’s Lynn residence.
The Bennetts face serious consequences for their actions, with charges of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute carrying potential sentences of up to 20 years in prison, at least three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $1,000,000. The sentencing is set for November 3, 2025.
United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Ted E. Docks, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Boston Division, announced the charges, with assistance from the Lynn Police Department and Massachusetts Department of Corrections. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Philip A. Mallard and David Cutshall are prosecuting the case with a relentless pursuit of justice.
This is a stark reminder of the deadly consequences that come with organized crime and drug trafficking, especially when it involves gang activity. The community is left to reflect on the impact of such violent acts and the ongoing battle against drug-related crime.
