Brandon C. Tyson, Drug Conspiracy and Gun Possession, Connecticut 2024

Bloomfield’s Brandon C. Tyson, 29, has admitted to a sordid mix of drug conspiracy and illegal firearms possession, according to U.S. Attorney David X. Sullivan and ATF Boston Field Division’s Bryan DiGirolamo.

With a state felony rap sheet that includes drug and assault convictions, Tyson violated federal law by possessing a Glock 20 pistol and conspiring to distribute deadly drugs, including cocaine and fentanyl.

The ATF investigation unearthed Tyson’s unlawful possession of the Glock in May 2021. His brazenness culminated between May 2023 and March 2024 with his alleged role in a conspiracy to distribute hundreds of grams of cocaine and fentanyl.

His downfall came on March 27, 2024, when he was arrested after police uncovered 1.7 kilograms of coke and $16,700 at his residence. His federal court date saw him plead guilty to serious charges: conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine and fentanyl, as well as unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

Branded with mandatory minimums of five years and maximums of 40 years for the drug offenses, and up to ten years for the gun charge, Tyson is set to be sentenced on October 29. Since his federal arrest on September 19, he has remained in custody.

This case was a collaborative effort by ATF, Connecticut State Police, and Bloomfield Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Robert S. Dearington, Sean P. Mahard, and Trial Attorney Brian P. Leaming are the prosecutors. It is part of the Justice Department’s Violent Crime Initiative and the OCDETF and PSN programs.
