Alden Man Going to Prison for Child Pornography Charge

Brandon Kidder, 37, of Alden, New York, has been sentenced to serve 72 months in prison and 25 years of supervised release for his conviction on a child pornography charge.

U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced the sentencing, which was handed down by U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo. Assistant U.S. Attorney Caitlin M. Higgins handled the case.

The investigation into Kidder’s activities began when the FBI executed a search warrant at his residence on January 28, 2020. A forensic review of the seized devices and electronic storage media revealed more than 600 images and videos of child pornography, including depictions of prepubescent minors and violent content.

Kidder downloaded the images and videos from the dark web, specifically visiting a website featuring ‘Hurtcore’ materials. The term ‘Hurtcore’ refers to any image or depiction of violent child pornography.

The sentencing is the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Stephen Belongia.

Kidder’s possession of child pornography is a serious offense, and his sentence reflects the severity of his crime. The investigation and sentencing serve as a reminder of the importance of protecting children and holding those who engage in such activities accountable.
