A Morristown, Tennessee resident has been sentenced to 18 years in federal prison for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking ring.
Brandon Lee Alexander, 36, was found guilty of possession with the intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, as well as possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The charges stem from two separate traffic stops in April 2017 and May 2017, during which Alexander was found to possess 28 grams of methamphetamine and $11,580 in cash, as well as a loaded semi-automatic pistol.
Alexander was arrested and released on bond in 2017, but was ultimately sentenced to 216 months in federal prison on June 3, 2019.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Thomas A. McCauley and J. Christian Lampe represented the United States in the case.
The investigation that led to Alexander’s indictment was a partnership between the Morristown Police Department, the Hamblen County Sheriff’s Department, the Grainger County Sheriff’s Office, and other local law enforcement agencies.
Alexander’s sentencing is the latest development in a case that has seen several of his codefendants sentenced to lengthy prison terms.
On May 2019, Pamela Renee Puckett, 49, of Buford, Georgia, was sentenced to 210 months in federal prison for conspiring to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.
Thomas Lynn Martin, 48, of Cosby, Tennessee, was sentenced to 21 years in federal prison on the same charge.
The case was brought as part of the Department of Justice’s Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) program.
