GREENSBORO, N.C. – In a gritty tale of drug trafficking, four Richmond County defendants found themselves in court this week, where they pleaded guilty to federal methamphetamine charges. Robert Ray Brayboy and Gina Marie Chavis were among those who entered their pleas.
Brayboy and Chavis each confessed to conspiracy to possess pseudoephedrine, a List I chemical known for its role in methamphetamine production. The duo faces up to 20 years imprisonment, fines of $250,000, and supervised release terms of up to three years, with a special assessment of $100.
Andrew Jennings Roscoe II and Dorothy Ann Joyner were also implicated in the sordid tale. Roscoe pleaded guilty to manufacturing methamphetamine and doing so on premises where children were present or residing – a heinous offense that could lead to a consecutive sentence for each child involved, doubling his potential prison term. Joyner’s sentence is similarly heavy.
Both Roscoe and Joyner are facing fines up to $1 million and $250,000 respectively. Each defendant will also have to endure supervised release of up to three years and pay the $100 special assessment per count.
The cases were a joint effort by local law enforcement, including the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, the Rockingham Police Department, and the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, who worked tirelessly to bring these criminals to justice.
Sentencing for all defendants is set for August 2, 2017. The courtrooms in Greensboro will be abuzz as these men and women face the full brunt of the law’s wrath.
