Brett William Kirkham, Child Enticement and Child Pornography, Alabama 2023

Brett William Kirkham, 40, has been hit with federal charges of enticing a minor and receiving and possessing child pornography, announced U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance, FBI Special Agent in Charge Roger Stanton, Tuscaloosa Police Chief Steven D. Anderson and Hueytown Police Chief Chuck Hagler.

A federal grand jury on Tuesday returned a four-count indictment charging Kirkham with child enticement and receipt and possession of child pornography between 2008 and 2016. The indictment was unsealed Thursday. Kirkham is scheduled for arraignment in federal court on August 11.

The maximum penalty for child enticement is life imprisonment and a fine of $250,000; the maximum penalty for each count of receiving and possessing child pornography is 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The FBI, Tuscaloosa Police Department, and Hueytown Police Department investigated the case, which Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jacquelyn Hutzell and John B. Ward are prosecuting.

An indictment contains only charges. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Brett William Kirkham, HR director for Jefferson County Schools and former principal of Hueytown Middle School, faces serious federal charges.
