Nash Devine Angel Ingraham, Kidnapping and Strangulation, Montana 2023

A Browning man has been sentenced to over 11 years in prison for kidnapping and strangling a woman on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation.

Nash Devine Angel Ingraham, 19, pleaded guilty on May 13 to kidnapping and to strangulation of a dating partner. He was sentenced to 11 years and 3 months in prison to be followed by 3 years of supervised release, Acting U.S. Attorney Leif M. Johnson said.

The assaults occurred in two separate incidents in 2020. The first incident occurred on February 10, 2020, when Ingraham forced the victim, identified as Jane Doe, out of a friend’s house and across the town of Browning, assaulting her along the way.

Doe was taken to Ingraham’s house, where he continued to assault her. Law enforcement officers went to Ingraham’s house multiple times looking for Doe, but the family refused to open the door. Officers responded to the house a third time, and Doe exited the house with visible injuries.

The second incident occurred on December 17, 2020, when Ingraham strangled Doe to near unconsciousness during an assault at a Browning residence, where he had held her for about four days. Doe went to a hospital in Browning and reported the assault.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Kalah A. Paisley prosecuted the case, which was investigated by the FBI and Blackfeet Law Enforcement Services.

Chief U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris presided over the trial. Ingraham’s lengthy sentence is a testament to the severity of his crimes and the efforts of law enforcement to hold him accountable.
