Hagåtña, Guam – Drug trafficker Ralph D. Clark Ricon, 49, has been sentenced to 33 months in federal prison for possession of methamphetamine hydrochloride with intent to distribute at the Guam International Airport on April 5, 2024.
The defendant, who also faces deportation, was identified by the Department of Correction as having two open Superior Court felony drug cases. During a traffic stop, officers seized over 80 grams of meth, scales, and packaging materials. Ricon, nervous and unable to provide identification, verbally consented to the search.
United States Attorney for Guam and Northern Mariana Islands, Shawn N. Anderson, praised law enforcement efforts in combating drug trafficking on the island. ‘Methamphetamine remains a top killer in our country,’ said Special Agent Brian M. Clark of the DEA’s Los Angeles Field Division. ‘Today’s sentencing should put drug distributors on notice that they will be held accountable for their actions.’
The investigation was conducted by the DEA and Guam International Airport Authority Police, with prosecution handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Devarup Rastogi.
Ricon is also subject to a three-year supervised release, 50 hours of community service, and a $100 special assessment fee due to his federal drug offense conviction.
