BRYAN SCOTT ERICKSON, Receipt of Child Pornography, Minnesota 2018

BRYAN SCOTT ERICKSON, 40, received a 75-month prison sentence and 10 years of supervised release for receiving child pornography in Minnesota.

ERICKSON was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Patrick J. Schiltz in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on March 19, 2018, after pleading guilty to the charges.

The investigation into ERICKSON’s activities began in 2016 when Homeland Security agents conducted an undercover investigation of child pornography trading on the online application Kik. ERICKSON was identified as a Kik user who shared child pornography in groups dedicated to sharing images of child sexual abuse.

Agents executed a search warrant at ERICKSON’s home and seized numerous computers and electronic devices. A forensic investigation revealed that ERICKSON had approximately 600 online chats with a man who claimed to have sex with his own children.

ERICKSON asked the man for ‘advice’ about when to start molesting children and what sexual acts to engage in with children of various ages.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Katharine Buzicky praised the investigative work of the law enforcement professionals who brought ERICKSON to justice.

This case is the result of an investigation conducted by Homeland Security Investigations, with support from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
