Bryan Shannon, Possession of Child Pornography, Arkansas 2020

Bryan Shannon, a 54-year-old man from Little Rock, Arkansas, was sentenced to over 11 years in prison for possession of child pornography. United States District Court Judge Kristine Baker handed down the sentence on Thursday, July 16, 2020.

The charges against Shannon stem from a February 2019 online sting operation conducted by the FBI. An undercover agent posted an online advertisement targeting individuals seeking children for sexual purposes and received a response from an individual with the username ‘taboojunkie,’ later identified as Shannon. The two engaged in a sexually explicit conversation, with Shannon disclosing that he had engaged in sex acts with a five-year-old and an eight-year-old child.

The FBI learned that Shannon was a registered sex offender with prior convictions for lewd or lascivious act in the presence of a child in 1995, lewd or lascivious molestation in 1999, unlawful possession of a photograph or representation of sexual conduct by a child in 2000, and knowingly showing obscene materials to minors in 2000.

In May 2019, Shannon was charged in a one-count indictment with possession of child pornography. He pleaded guilty to the indictment on July 15, 2020. In addition to the prison term, Shannon was sentenced to a lifetime of supervised release following his imprisonment.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI, with the case being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kristin Bryant.

Shannon’s prior convictions and history as a registered sex offender demonstrate a pattern of behavior that poses a significant threat to the community. His sentence reflects the severity of the crime and the need to protect vulnerable individuals from exploitation.
