Aggravated Sexual Abuse Lands Oklahoma Man Behind Bars
A 63-year-old Stilwell, Oklahoma man, Bryan Udale Jones, has pleaded guilty to Aggravated Sexual Abuse in Indian Country. The charges carry a minimum sentence of thirty years imprisonment.
According to the evidence presented, Jones engaged in sexual acts with a child under the age of 12 from 2003 to 2010. Furthermore, during the plea allocution, it was revealed that he also sexually assaulted three other children, all under the age of 12 at the time of the abuse.
The investigation into Jones’s crimes was a collaborative effort between the Adair County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma took on the case due to the defendant’s membership in a federally recognized Indian tribe and the fact that the crimes occurred within the boundaries of the Cherokee Nation Reservation.
The Honorable Jason A. Robertson, a U.S. Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted Jones’s guilty plea and ordered a presentence investigation report to be completed. Sentencing will be scheduled following the completion of the report. In the meantime, Jones has been remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal.
Assistant United States Attorneys Nicole Paladino and Anthony C. Marek represented the United States in this case.
Jones’s guilty plea serves as a stark reminder of the devastating impact of child sexual abuse and the importance of holding perpetrators accountable for their actions. The people of Oklahoma can rest assured that those who commit such heinous crimes will face the full force of the law.
