Convicted Sex Offender Sentenced to Over 20 Years in Prison
Bryce Rawson, a 24-year-old man from Liberty, South Carolina, was sentenced to over 20 years in federal prison for engaging in illicit sexual conduct with a minor in El Salvador.
On July 22, 2018, Rawson sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl while on a mission trip at the ‘Hope Center’ in El Salvador. The mission trip was sponsored by a religious organization.
Rawson pleaded guilty in April to engaging in illicit sexual conduct in a foreign place. He was subsequently sentenced by U.S. District Judge Mark Pittman to 250 months in prison, equivalent to over 20 years.
The investigation into Rawson’s crimes was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations’ Dallas and Tampa Field Offices in conjunction with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Aisha Saleem, along with CEOS trial attorney Charles Schmitz and Alex Lewis, prosecuted the case.
Rawson’s crimes were committed when he was 22 years old. He will spend over two decades behind bars for his heinous actions.
Rawson’s exact address is not publicly available as it is not specified in the source material. However, it is known that he is from Liberty, South Carolina.
Rawson’s case highlights the importance of vigilance when it comes to protecting children from predators, especially in foreign countries.
The case is a stark reminder that sex offenders will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law, regardless of their geographical location.
The sentencing of Rawson brings closure to the victim and her family, and serves as a warning to others who would engage in similar crimes.
