Yesterday, Cadogan, now aged 39 and residing in La Crosse, Wis., received the maximum penalty for distributing child pornography when U.S. District Judge K. Michael Moore sentenced him to 240 months—20 years—in federal prison, coupled with an eternity of supervised release.
The court record paints a chilling portrait: Cadogan uploaded and distributed explicit content involving minors via a social media messaging platform, not only sharing but also offering to sell the illicit material. He boasted of having “100 of videos n pictures” in his possession and engaged in sexually explicit conversations with an online undercover agent, revealing his sickening conduct with minor children.
U.S. Attorney Markenzy Lapointe for the Southern District of Florida and Special Agent in Charge Jeffrey B. Veltri of the FBI’s Miami Field Office stood united in announcing Cadogan’s sentence. Their efforts were bolstered by the Miami Key West Resident Agency, which diligently investigated the case, leading to Assistant U.S. Attorney Katherine W. Guthrie prosecuting it with unwavering determination.
This harrowing episode is part of Project Safe Childhood (PSC), an initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
