Washington – In a chilling case of online child exploitation, James Styner, 20, from Garden Grove, California, was sentenced to 14 years in prison for coercing and enticing minors into producing explicit material.
The U.S. District Court in Washington D.C. handed down the sentence after Styner pleaded guilty on March 28, 2025, to coercion and enticement of a minor, distribution of child pornography, and receiving child pornography. He also faces seven years of supervised release following his prison term.
“No man will be allowed to exploit, harm, and victimize children under my watch,” declared U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro. “They will be hunted down, prosecuted, and then face the full weight of justice.”
According to court documents, Styner began his campaign of exploitation at 17 years old, using Discord to manipulate and exploit girls aged 12-17 across the United States. He engaged in approximately 45 chat conversations demanding explicit material from his victims, some of whom were minors.
His offenses also include in-person sexual relationships with at least two minor girls. Styner’s plea agreement includes a total of 12 identified victims, with further allegations against unidentified individuals.
The investigation was conducted by the Metropolitan Police Department-Federal Bureau of Investigation (MPD-FBI) Child Exploitation Task Force, with significant assistance from the West Covina (California) Police Department and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California. The prosecution was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Janani Iyengar and former Assistant U.S. Attorney Jocelyn Bond.
