Ceres Man Sentenced for Child Pornography

FRESNO, Calif. – A 56-year-old man from Ceres was sentenced to seven years and three months in prison for receiving child pornography. George Esle Pires was handed down the sentence by United States District Judge Anthony W. Ishii.

According to court documents, between November 2006 and November 2012, Pires received images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

This case was the product of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Ceres Police Department. Assistant United States Attorneys Grant B. Rabenn and Jeffrey Spivak prosecuted the case.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute those who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.

Project Safe Childhood has been instrumental in bringing those responsible for child exploitation to justice. The initiative has worked to provide education and resources to the public on internet safety and the dangers of child pornography.

Pires’ sentence is a result of the hard work and dedication of law enforcement agencies and prosecutors who work tirelessly to protect our children from exploitation. This sentence serves as a reminder that child predators will be held accountable for their crimes.
