Chaelyn Nichole Aaron, 28, Sentenced to 110 Months in Prison

A Wichita woman has been sentenced to 110 months in federal prison for stealing guns to pay off a drug debt. Chaelyn Nichole Aaron, 28, pleaded guilty to one count of theft of firearms.

The crime occurred on March 28, 2018, at an Atwoods store located at 6235 N. Broadway in Wichita. Aaron used a small red crowbar to pry open a display case and stole seven handguns from the case.

According to court documents, Aaron gave the stolen guns to a drug dealer to pay off her debt. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Assistant U.S. Attorney Matt Treaster commended the efforts of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in securing the conviction.

The case was prosecuted under the Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative. This program aims to reduce violent crime and promote public safety through a collaborative effort between federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
