Wolf Point Man Pleads Guilty to Assault Charges

GREAT FALLS — In a disturbing case out of the Fort Peck Indian Reservation, Charles Connor Clark, 27, of Wolf Point, pleaded guilty to assault resulting in serious bodily injury. Clark was accused of causing life-threatening, non-accidental injuries to an infant in November 2017.

According to court documents, the FBI was notified that the infant had been flown from Wolf Point to a hospital in Billings, Montana. Doctors informed agents that the victim’s injuries were classic signs of physical abuse. When interviewed, the victim’s mother claimed that Clark had told her the victim had vomited, that he was trying to burp him, and that the victim had choked.

Clark faces a maximum 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and three years of supervised release. The sentencing is set for June 16. Clark was detained pending further proceedings.

The case was investigated by the FBI and the Fort Peck Tribal Law Enforcement. Assistant U.S. Attorney Lori Suek is prosecuting the case.
