Defendant Sentenced to Prison for Gun and Drug Charges
Greenbelt, Maryland – Charles Ulysses Bowman-Bey, a/k/a ‘Big Flock,’ age 24, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, was sentenced to 45 months in prison for being a felon in possession of firearms and possession with intent to distribute Alprazolam.
The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Theodore D. Chuang. The defendant’s music career, which included music videos glorifying drug dealing and gang violence, came to an abrupt end after a search warrant was executed at his residence on October 19, 2016, recovering a loaded handgun and various rounds of ammunition.
Bowman-Bey admitted to possessing the Alprazolam to distribute to others and that the $5,561 in cash was the proceeds of his drug dealing. The defendant also admitted to possessing the firearms in furtherance of his drug trafficking and for protection.
The defendant had a previous felony conviction and was prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition. U.S. Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein commended the ATF and Prince George’s County Police Department for their work in the investigation.
Assistant United States Attorneys Michael T. Packard and Thomas J. Sullivan prosecuted the case. Rosenstein praised Bowman-Bey’s ‘Letter to the World,’ in which he apologized for his life of crime and the harm it caused.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland and law enforcement agencies are working tirelessly to hold individuals accountable for their crimes, particularly those that involve firearms and drugs.
Charles Bowman-Bey will serve 45 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
