CHARLESTON, W.Va. – In a gritty turn of events, Alexis Nicole Davis, a 26-year-old resident of Charleston, has pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl.
The sinister scheme unfolded on June 21, 2023, when Davis was caught with 10 grams of the deadly substance, intended for sale at a local gas station. However, her plans were thwarted when she recognized that the would-be buyer was an undercover informant and the deal never went through.
Despite the aborted transaction, law enforcement officers were quick to pounce. After Davis left the scene, they pulled her over and discovered the fentanyl hidden in her purse. Davis confessed her intent to distribute the substance to others.
Scheduled for sentencing on July 25, 2024, Davis faces a potential prison term of 20 years, at least three years of supervised release, and a staggering $1 million fine.
United States Attorney Will Thompson was quick to praise the investigative prowess of the Charleston Police Department-Special Enforcement Unit.
