Two men have been arrested in Louisiana on child exploitation charges, according to Attorney General Jeff Landry. John Salpietra, 24, of Denham Springs, was arrested on two counts of Distribution of Sexual Abuse Images and/or Videos of Children. He was booked into the Livingston Parish Prison following a joint investigation between the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation Cyber Crime Unit, Homeland Security Investigations, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Chris Rome, 31, of Picayune, Mississippi, was arrested in Slidell on one count of Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile. He was booked into the Slidell City Jail following a joint investigation between the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation Cyber Crime Unit, Homeland Security Investigations, the Slidell Police Department, the Mandeville Police Department, and the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Attorney General Jeff Landry stated, “I have an unwavering commitment to protect our children from sexual exploitation. My office will continue to use all the resources possible to bring child predators to justice.” General Landry’s Cyber Crime Unit has investigated thousands of computer crimes that have victimized children from infants to 16 years of age.
The arrests are a result of a joint effort between multiple law enforcement agencies. The Louisiana Bureau of Investigation Cyber Crime Unit, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation worked together to bring these individuals to justice. The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Slidell Police Department also played a crucial role in the investigations.
