Child Porn Ring Bust: Palmer Sentenced 10 Yrs
Council Bluffs, IA – In a shocking turn of events, 56-year-old James Lee Palmer of Missouri Valley, Iowa, was sentenced to 120 months in prison for possession of child pornography.
The court heard that on May 11, 2016, Palmer was found to be in possession of over 300 images of child pornography. The images were discovered during a search warrant of his residence, conducted by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the Missouri Valley, Iowa Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
According to court documents, Palmer’s guilty plea was the result of an investigation into the posting of an image depicting child pornography on a cloud-based storage service. The investigation led to a search warrant of Palmer’s residence, where law enforcement discovered the incriminating evidence.
Palmer’s prison sentence is to be followed by 10 years of supervised release. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa prosecuted the case.
