Juarez Sanchez-Montiel, a 41-year-old illegal alien from Mexico, committed heinous crimes against two children under the age of 13 in Montgomery County, North Carolina. The abuse, which started on May 1, 2016, and continued until September 11, 2023, resulted in the birth of two children. Sanchez-Montiel was also found guilty of immigration fraud after submitting false statements to obtain a U-Visa in November 2021.
Sanchez-Montiel’s crimes were uncovered, and he was indicted by a grand jury on December 11, 2023. He was later convicted of statutory rape of a child 15 years of age or younger, statutory sex offense with a child 15 years of age or younger, and two counts of sex act by substitute parent or custodian. The conviction led to a sentence of 18-26 years in prison and registration as a sex offender.
In a separate case, Sanchez-Montiel pleaded guilty to immigration fraud on March 16, 2026. He confessed to making false statements under penalty of perjury on his U-Visa application, denying any history of crime or sexual misconduct. The federal judge sentenced him to 7 months in federal prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release.
U.S. Attorney Ellis Boyle commended the sentence, stating that the community can rest easier knowing that Sanchez-Montiel will no longer pose a threat to innocent children. The case highlights the importance of enforcing immigration laws and protecting vulnerable populations from predators like Sanchez-Montiel.
