William Scott Morse, a Spokane man, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for soliciting minors for sex in Spokane, Washington. In September 2024, Morse responded to a 15-year-old’s babysitting ad on Craigslist, asking if she wanted to make quick money, but not for babysitting. He corresponded with the child, describing sex acts and offering her $320 for sex, and eventually engaged in sexual contact with the minor.
Search warrants for Morse’s email accounts revealed he was also conversing with a 16-year-old who had posted a babysitting ad on Craigslist, promising her quick cash for sex. Morse pleaded guilty to various sex trafficking offenses and will also plead guilty to Rape of a Child in the Third Degree in Spokane County Superior Court.
The case highlights the dangers faced by children seeking employment, with First Assistant US Attorney Pete Serrano stating that the impact of such offenses extends beyond the child victims to the entire community. Spokane County Prosecuting Attorney Preston McCollam emphasized the importance of strong partnerships between law enforcement agencies in combating such crimes.
Morse’s sentence reflects the severity of his crimes, and his lifetime term of supervised release will ensure he is closely monitored upon his release from prison. The case serves as a reminder of the need for vigilance in protecting children from predators like Morse.
