A Tonawanda man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for his role in a child pornography case.
David Barraclough, 32, was found guilty of possession of child pornography and was sentenced to 240 months in prison and lifetime supervised release by U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo.
According to court documents, Barraclough was first arrested on November 12, 2014, for endangering the welfare of a child in violation of New York State law.
While in custody, two individuals cleaning out his apartment discovered a thumb drive containing child pornography, which led to a forensic analysis uncovering 238 images and five videos.
The investigation also revealed that Barraclough had engaged in sexual conversations with a 14-year-old girl using the Kik and ooVoo applications, and had sent her a sexual photograph.
Barraclough had previously been convicted in 2010 of possessing a sexual performance by a child and endangering the welfare of a child, and was sentenced to time served and 10 years probation.
He was also convicted in 2010 of failing to register as a sex offender and sexual misconduct, and was sentenced to 12 months in jail.
The sentencing is the culmination of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Town of Tonawanda Police Department, and the City of Tonawanda Police Department.
