Three St. Thomas residents, including a 56-year-old strip club owner, were busted in a prostitution ring that peddled sex at Tootsies Gentlemen’s Club, a strip joint on the island.
Hussein Jamil, aka Tony, allegedly ran the brothel from behind the scenes, using his Instagram-fueled recruitment tactics to lure women to the club. Once there, the women were forced to pay hefty fees and work for a pittance.
Texas-born dancer, Magda Castro Santos, managed the girls, ensuring they paid their dues and collected payments for private dances and sex. Julio Hidalgo De Pena, a 65-year-old islander, drove the dancers to and from the club every night.
The prostitution ring’s scope was alarming – it allegedly employed both U.S. citizens and undocumented aliens, some of whom were smuggled into the U.S. Virgin Islands using Jamil’s resources.
A federal judge issued an arrest warrant for the trio, who face charges of running a prostitution ring and harboring undocumented aliens.
