A convicted felon on St. Croix, USVI, was caught with a loaded gun and now faces the music. Jahmar Frederick, 32, was sentenced to 24 months in prison for being in possession of a firearm as a felon.
The Virgin Islands Police Department got the ball rolling when they spotted Frederick’s Ford F-150 truck without a license plate near the Frontline Bar and Grill on May 11, 2024. The truck took off, losing control and sliding off the road. Frederick bailed out, but not before pulling a ski mask over his face and continuing to flee on foot.
He eventually fell and was apprehended. A fanny pack over his chest held a black Glock model 22 Gen4 .40 caliber firearm with a 30-round magazine containing 18 rounds of ammunition and one round chambered. Frederick’s history of crime caught up with him – he’s been convicted of forgery, failing to report firearms, and obtaining money by false pretenses.
The investigation was a joint effort between Homeland Security Investigations and the Virgin Islands Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Rhonda Williams-Henry brought the case to the US Attorney’s Office for the District of the Virgin Islands.
