Christopher Baca, Child Pornography Possession, New Mexico 2023

An Española man has been sentenced to nine years and one month in prison for his role in a child pornography ring.

Christopher Baca, 35, of Española, New Mexico, pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography in March 2023 and was sentenced on November 16, 2023.

According to court documents, in August 2020, Baca shared over a dozen videos of young children, some as young as one to three years of age, being sexually abused within a Kik group under the username ‘C B’.

The FBI served a search warrant at Baca’s home on January 13, 2021, seizing his electronic devices, including an Asus laptop, a Patriot flash drive, a Samsung Galaxy cellphone, and a Samsung hard drive. A forensic examination revealed a total of 730 files containing child pornography.

Baca admitted to previously sharing material containing child pornography within Kik Messenger groups. Upon his release from prison, he will be subject to five years of supervised release and must register as a sex offender. Baca must also pay $36,000 in restitution and $22,000 in fines.

The FBI Albuquerque Field Office investigated this case as part of the New Mexico Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. The ICAC Task Force Program is a nation-wide network of task forces dedicated to investigating, prosecuting, and developing effective responses to Internet crimes against children.

This case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
