Carjacking Suspect Pleads Guilty
CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – A Clarksburg man has admitted to carjacking and firearms charges, Acting United States Attorney Randolph J. Bernard announced.
Christopher M. Vickers, 31, pleaded guilty today to one count of “Carjacking,” and one count of “Use of Firearm During and in Relation to a Crime of Violence.”
According to court documents, on June 3, 2020, Vickers drove to a residence in Shinnston, West Virginia to take a motorcycle. Vickers admitted to grabbing a woman by her hair and holding a gun to her head, demanding the location of the motorcycle.
Vickers faces up to 15 years of incarceration and fine of up to $250,000 for the carjacking charge and faces no less than seven years of incarceration and a fine of up to $250,000 for the firearm use. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher L. Bauer is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Shinnston Police Department investigated.
Vickers’ guilty plea will be considered in the upcoming sentencing hearing. U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael Aloi presided over the court proceedings.
