Christopher Pollard, Machinegun Possession, Pennsylvania 2023

A former resident of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has been indicted for violating federal firearms and narcotics laws. Christopher Pollard, 33, was named as the sole defendant in the four-count Indictment announced by United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan.

The Indictment alleges that Pollard possessed a Glock handgun that had been illegally modified to fire as a fully automatic machinegun on November 3, 2023. This action is in violation of federal law, which prohibits individuals from possessing machineguns. Pollard has multiple prior felony convictions, which also make it illegal for him to possess any firearm or ammunition.

In addition to the illegal machinegun, the Indictment also alleges that Pollard possessed with intent to distribute a quantity of cocaine on the same day as the machinegun possession. The Indictment claims that the machinegun was possessed in furtherance of the drug trafficking offense.

Pollard faces a maximum sentence of not less than five years and up to life in prison, a fine of up to $1 million, or both. The actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history of the defendant.

Assistant United States Attorney Benjamin C. Dobkin is prosecuting this case on behalf of the United States. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Pittsburgh Bureau of Police conducted the investigation leading to the Indictment.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence. The program brings together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to make neighborhoods safer for everyone.

An indictment is an accusation. Pollard is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
