Harrisburg Man Sentenced to 24 Years in Prison for Marijuana Trafficking and Pandemic Unemployment Fraud
A Harrisburg man has been sentenced to 24 years in prison for his role in a large-scale marijuana trafficking operation.
Christopher Texidor, 37, was sentenced to 292 months in prison by United States District Judge Jennifer P. Wilson on December 11, 2024, for his involvement in a marijuana smuggling operation that brought over 9,000 kilograms (2,200 pounds) of marijuana into the Harrisburg area through the U.S. Mail.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, Texidor and his co-defendants arranged to have their marijuana source in California mail hundreds of parcels full of marijuana to Harrisburg, while also mailing tens of thousands of dollars in cash back to the California source. The operation used a sophisticated system of GPS tracking devices to keep track of their drugs and money.
The jury heard evidence of the violence that Texidor and his co-defendants used to try and stop a thief from stealing their marijuana, including hiring gunmen to shoot up a truck, homes, and rob the suspected thief at gunpoint. The jury convicted Texidor of conspiracy to traffic more than 1,000 kilograms of marijuana, conspiracy to use a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, use of a means in interstate communication to commit a crime of violence, and drug trafficking.
In addition to his prison sentence, Texidor was also sentenced for committing pandemic-related unemployment fraud, for which he received over $20,000 in pandemic unemployment relief. He was charged with wire fraud for this episode and later pleaded guilty.
Texidor’s co-defendants, Jamie Valenzuela, William Kuduk, Jonathan Cobaugh, Justin Laboy, Jose Laboy, and Julio Arellano, have pleaded guilty and received their own sentences. Jamie Valenzuela was sentenced to 57 months’ imprisonment, and Jose Laboy was sentenced to 108 months’ imprisonment for marijuana trafficking and weapons offenses.
The case highlights the dangers of large-scale marijuana trafficking operations and the violent tactics used by those involved. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania is committed to pursuing these cases and bringing justice to those responsible.
