Claudius English, Sex Trafficking Minors, New York 2024

New York, NY – Claudius English, 45, of Bronx, New York, was convicted yesterday and sentenced for a litany of heinous crimes including sex trafficking minors, attempted sex trafficking as young as 8 years old, kidnapping of a minor, and using a firearm in the commission of this despicable act.

United States Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman called English’s actions a ‘predatory reign of terror’ against children, emphasizing that this conviction ensures he faces his due punishment. Special Agent-in-Charge Angel M. Melendez of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) highlighted the importance of internet safety in preventing such crimes and expressed relief that justice has been served for the victims.

The NYPD’s commitment to eradicating child predators from the streets was underscored by Commissioner James P. O’Neill, who vowed to continue working with law enforcement partners to bring these criminals to justice.

According to trial evidence, English used the Internet to lure minor victims, photographed them in sexually suggestive poses, and arranged for sex with minors as young as 13 and 8 years old. On November 15, 2013, he attempted to kidnap a 14-year-old girl from New Jersey, pointing a loaded gun at her during the escape attempt.

English was convicted on multiple counts, including conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of minors, four counts of sex trafficking of minors, three counts of attempted sex trafficking of minors, kidnapping of a minor, and the use of a firearm in furtherance of the kidnapping. He faces a life sentence with a mandatory minimum of 27 years.

Berman commended the investigative work of HSI, NYPD, and expressed gratitude to the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office for their efforts. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Michael K. Krouse, Ni Qian, and Frank Balsamello.
