Oralia Rodriguez-Flores, Conspiracy to Commit Money Laundering, North Carolina 2023

WILMINGTON, N.C. — A federal court in North Carolina has sentenced Oralia Rodriguez-Flores, 40, of Clayton, to 11 years in prison for money laundering and trafficking large quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine.

Rodriguez-Flores pleaded guilty last year to conspiracy to commit money laundering, conspiracy to distribute 5 kilograms or more of cocaine, and 500 grams or more of methamphetamine. She also admitted to distributing 500 grams or more of methamphetamine.

“Let this case stand as a warning to those willing to help Cartels poison our communities. We will target your drugs, your finances, and your profits and seize them,” U.S. Attorney Ellis Boyle stated. “Cartel crime will not pay in Eastern North Carolina.”

The DEA remains committed to pursuing those who traffic dangerous drugs, said Jae W. Chung, the Acting Special Agent in Charge of the DEA Atlanta Division.

According to court documents, Rodriguez-Flores distributed large quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine shipped from Mexico between June 2021 and June 2024. She also laundered millions of dollars in drug proceeds back to Mexico.

In January 2023, Rodriguez-Flores delivered 4 kilograms of cocaine to a drug trafficking organization based in South Carolina. In February 2024, agents seized $39,391 in cash from her and 40 kilograms of cocaine from her semi-trailer truck in Kentucky.

Rodriguez-Flores’ prosecution was the result of an investigation by the Eastern District of North Carolina’s Illicit Finance Task Force and the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Toby Lathan and Charles Loeser.
