Cleveland Parolee, Galaszewski, Child Pornography, Ohio 2023

Christopher Galaszewski, a 27-year-old Cleveland resident, has been sentenced to a staggering 15 years in federal prison for distributing and possessing child pornography. The sentence comes after Galaszewski pleaded guilty to charges of distribution of visual depictions of real minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, and possession of child sexual abuse materials (CSAM), also known as child porn.

Galaszewski was already serving a parole term for an unrelated offense when he committed these crimes. According to court documents, between June 23 and July 6, 2023, the defendant distributed computer files containing explicit images of minors, including at least one prepubescent child under 12 years old.

The investigation began after federal agents received a report that Galaszewski was sharing CSAM files on social media. During his parole check-in call, he confessed to suspecting his email account had been hacked due to the presence of child porn. His parole officer seized his digital devices as permitted under parole terms.

Search warrants executed on these devices revealed nearly 200 images and videos of CSAM. The investigation was conducted by U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations, and the case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Margaret A. Kane.

This conviction is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse online. Galaszewski will also be required to register as a sex offender and serve 15 years of supervised release after his prison sentence.
